Bot view redesign

Removing the Bot / Chat switch

Lead: You're right: a Bot / Chat switch inside Bot Mode makes it feel like two modes. Both options below drop the switch, so there is one view: the bot and its conversation together. Nothing else ships until you pick.

A

What's confusing today

The thread top has a Bot / Chat switch. Bot shows the full-screen stage, and Chat shows the written conversation. They are the same chat, but the switch makes them look like different modes, and you can't see the bot and the conversation at once.

Status: ai.allternit.com and the phone app have this now. Desktop got the first version only. I've paused, and I won't publish another Desktop update until we decide.

B

Option 1: the bot beside its conversation

React · Option 1 · one view: the bot beside its conversation

The bot stays big on the left. The right column is the conversation itself: you scroll it for the history, and what the bot made shows inline. "Needs you" pins to the top. Plan, steps and the montage show in the same column while they matter. There is no switch, because the stage and the chat are one screen. On phones the bot sits above the conversation and shrinks as you scroll.

C

Option 2: the bot steps back as the chat grows

React · Option 2 · one view: the bot steps back as the chat grows

You open on the big bot. As soon as you type, or scroll into the history, the bot glides up into a small avatar and the conversation takes the screen. Scroll back to the top, or tap the avatar, and the bot comes back. There's still one view, and it changes size as you go.

How should the bot and the conversation live together?
