Drag a bot out of the app

Drag a bot out of the app → Quick Work opens where you drop it

The idea comes from @alexmichaelio's Grok Bot concept. You grab a bot, carry it out of the app and drop it on whatever is on screen. The bot knows what it is sitting on, and you ask it about that.

Most of this is already built. The desktop pet, the Quick Work HUD that stays attached to the pet, and window-below.ts (which app window is under a point) are all live. The new part connects them: when you drag a bot out of the rail, the pet window takes over the drag.

# Piece Where Notes
1 Carry the bot out BotModeRail.tsx pointer drag + new allternitCompanion.carry() Drag-to-promote inside the rail still works. When the cursor leaves the window, the drag becomes a carry.
2 Pet follows the cursor desktop-companion.ts The pet takes the dragged bot's look and follows the cursor while the button is down. It does not roam during a carry.
3 Open Quick Work on drop openHudForCompanion(agentId) The HUD is already attached to the pet, so it opens at the drop point instead of the bottom centre.
4 What it's sitting on window-below.ts + desktopCapturer A chip says "Sitting on Numbers · Q3 Revenue". You can remove it before you send.
5 Move it to another window pet drag end The same lookup runs again. The chip changes and the conversation stays.
6 Flick it home drop the pet on the main window The HUD closes and the pet goes back to where it was, or hides if the pet was turned off.
7 Web + phone version rail drag (web), long-press (phone) These have no OS windows. Drop the bot on the open view to get a quick chat sheet with that view as context.

Status: merged

Repo PR State
allternit-ai #811 Merged. ai.allternit.com deploys on merge. Service worker cache bumped to v158.
allternit-platform #1843 Merged. Desktop main + preload, docs, dependency map.
allternit-platform #1845 Merged. Fixes the docs lint on main (a vendor name in agent-steps.mdx from another change).

Still to do:

  1. Desktop app build. The pet and the HUD changes are in the app's main process, so a runtime publish alone is not enough.
  2. m.allternit.com PWA deploy Done 2026-10-24: deployment 796093f1 from main f5dbe413. Service worker v158 and the bot carry code are live, and the /b/ and web-proxy functions answer.

Not tried live yet. The first real check is dragging a bot out of the Desktop window after the new build.
