Free office site: plan

Where things stand

office.allternit.com is a small Vite app in the platform repo (surfaces/office.allternit.com). It has five tabs: Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDF and Sign. These are the older GenOffice apps. Files stay in the browser: you open a file from disk, and saving downloads it.

The editors that users see in the app are a different set. They live in allternit-ai under src/ and are registered in src/lib/artifacts/kinds.ts.

Problems found:

The AI endpoint is open. functions/api/agent-chat.js checks no token and allows every origin. Anyone can call it and spend the model key. The sign-in check is only on the page.
Sheets may not work. The GenOffice Sheets app opens and saves through /api/office/xlsx/session/*, and the free site does not have that endpoint.
The site promises things it does not do. The page says "cloud sync", but nothing syncs. Recent files is always empty.
The two copies of the office packages have drifted. ai has 12 files and 36 changed files that the platform copy does not have.

Where the free site should be built

With the recommended option, allternit-ai gets an office build entry and a deploy to the existing allternit-office Pages project. The URLs for the craft bundles (/craft/pdf, /craft/image, /craft/video) stay the same, because the app loads them from there. The platform site is then retired.

Free, no sign-in: open and save files on your own computer, with recent files kept in the browser (IndexedDB). The site works on a phone the same way.
Signed in: the same as above, plus saving to your Allternit account and the AI assistant, with your plan's limits.

Order of work

Close the open AI endpoint now: verify the sign-in token on the server and allow only Allternit origins. This change ships on its own, before anything else.
Add the office build to allternit-ai: an editor picker, local open and save, recent files, and phone layout.
Move the craft bundles and _headers into that build, keeping the same URLs.
Point the allternit-office Pages project at the new build. Before switching, check every editor on desktop and on a phone.
Copy ai's office package work back into the platform so the two copies match, then retire the platform site.
