Google Connected Apps
The launch is real, but the post oversells it. Google opened a developer preview on October 28, 2026. It is not an open store, and Google does not state a 4.3 billion reach.
What the post claims and what Google says
| Claim in the post | Finding | Status |
|---|---|---|
| "Connected Apps Store" | Google calls it the Connected Apps Platform. Users get help-center lists of apps. | |
| Any MCP can reach users now | Developers apply. Google reviews each app and opens access in phases. | |
| 4.3 billion active users | Google's blog and help page give no user count. Search apps are US and English only. | |
| Organic surfacing at the moment of intent | Partly true. After a general request, a user can pick from a list and connect an app. Google publishes no ranking rules. | |
| Use without leaving Gemini or AI Mode | True, after the user links an account for that app. | |
| "Gemini will be live imminently" | Coverage says some apps are already live in Gemini. |

Soham Mehta does growth at Jitsu. The post sends readers to agentdiscoverability.com, which sells discoverability services. I found no stated link between them, and I did not check further.
How an app gets in
- Google recommends a remote MCP server. It reaches Gemini and Search on web, Android and iOS.
- Android MCP with AppFunctions reaches Gemini on Android only.
- Google lists more than 50 apps. The logo image in the post includes Shopify, Linear, Zillow and Canva.
Rules that matter
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Transport | Streamable HTTP. Legacy SSE is not supported. |
| Spec version | Up to 2025-11-25 |
| Endpoint | One global endpoint for each connected app |
| Domain check | Token file at /.well-known/google-connected-apps |
| Sign-in | OAuth with PKCE. Google needs seeded test accounts with 2FA off. |
| Schema | Frozen after publishing. A change needs a new version. |
| Tool count | Review flags servers that expose dozens of tools. |
| Ads | No third-party ads or promotions |
| API wrappers | No apps that mainly pass through another platform's API |
| Fees | Not mentioned in the pages I read. Treat as unknown. |
Fit for Allternit
Allternit already runs a live MCP server, so most of the technical work exists.
| Check | Result | Status |
|---|---|---|
Public HTTPS endpoint at mcp.allternit.com/mcp |
Answers 401 with OAuth metadata | |
| Spec 2025-11-25 and Streamable HTTP | Listed on the server page | |
| OAuth code flow with S256 PKCE | Present in the live metadata | |
| Google domain token file | 404, not set up yet | |
| One endpoint for each app | The agents server fits. The per-bot URLs /mcp/bots/<id> do not fit one global endpoint. |
|
| Useful to a person in Gemini | The agents server reads agents and runs, which helps existing users only | |
| Scope names | The page says agents:read. The live metadata says profile. |
Not checked: the tool list and schemas behind sign-in, Google's review outcome, and the interest form's questions.
